Preparing Food for July’s National Food Holidays
According to The Nibble, July is quite an exciting food month. In addition to Independence Day—the best day of the year for cookouts—there’s also at least one food holiday every day of the month. As you’re preparing food, consider a few of these slow-cooking specialties.
Baked Beans
To celebrate National Baked Bean month, consider trying out Betty Crocker’s slow-cooked baked bean recipe. These beans may require five hours of cooking, but with only a ten-minute prep time, you really will be able to let the slow-cooker do the heavy lifting.
Gigot a la Cuillère
For Bastille Day on July 14, why not try some slow-cooked French spoon lamb, a roast so tender that it can literally be carved with a spoon? Simmering in white wine, onion, and plenty of garlic, this is a dish that’s sure to make the mouth water.
Macaroni and Cheese
If French cooking isn’t your speed, take heart. July 14 is also National Macaroni Day, the perfect day to try Uncle Jack’s Crock Pot Mac ‘n Cheese. This delicious side-dish may call for simple ingredients, but it’s a crowd favorite any time of year.
Cheesecake
No meal would be complete without dessert, and no post about food would be either! Fortunately, July 30 is Cheesecake Day. Although crock-pot cheese cake may sound a bit off-the-wall, we promise that it’s as simple as it is delicious. With a silky texture and the added benefit of eliminating spring-form pans from the process, this recipe is sure to delight. What better day than Cheesecake Day to see for yourself how easy cheesecake can be?
