Looking to Cook and Hold? Try These Summer Selections

Slow Cook and Hold

As summer approaches, the time is come to start menu planning with the hotter months in mind. As temperatures rise, consider some of these summer selections. They're especially good if you plan to cook and hold!

Summer Soups

What better way to kick of a tasty summer than with a chilled soup, such as this Tomato Mint Gazpacho? This light soup is sure to go down easy and keep everyone cool and refreshed on these long summer nights. If possible, serve in tall drinking glasses for a lovely aesthetic. For something more traditional, you could always consider this Chicken Tortilla Soup. It's flavorful, filling, and full of fresh summer ingredients.

Summer Sides

Whether paired with grilled chicken, ribs, or simple hot dogs, these summer sides will complement almost anything. This Bang Bang Corn recipe from Delish is sure to tempt the taste buds. Drenched in sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and black pepper, this corn-on-the-cob recipe that is sure to become a yearly favorite. For something a bit milder, try a simple medley of Grilled Squash and Zucchini. Both the colors and flavors are simply lovely.

Summer Salads

For something light and zesty, we suggest this Lemony Green Bean Pasta Salad. Simple to prepare ahead of time and perfect in large batches, it's a wonderful choice to cook and hold. If you are in the mood for something more hearty, however, we recommend this BLT Salad with Buttermilk-Parmesan Dressing and Buttery Croutons (although we suggest that if you prepare this one ahead of time, you serve the croutons on the side to preserve their crunch).
