Spring Cleaning? Don’t Forget Your Restaurant Food Warmers!

Spring Cleaning

According to the American Cleaning Institute, 72% of all household’s plan top-to-bottom cleanings once a year. While they prioritize bedrooms, they hit the kitchens next, followed by bathrooms.

If you work in food service, then you know the importance of ongoing cleanliness; and while kitchens have daily and nightly checklists that keep them on track, most food service professionals also plan regularly-scheduled deep cleans to ensure that their cooking areas are bacteria free.

If you're planning to give your kitchen a stiff spring clean, don't forget your food warmers.

Outside

The outside of the machine can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent. Be sure to pull the warmer away from the wall, cleaning both behind and beneath it as well. And don't forget about the cord!

Inside

In some cases, food warmers come apart. If your warmer has detachable trays or racks, disassemble and wash in hot, soapy water. Using a soft, damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent, clean every interior nook and cranny. Hard-to-reach corners can be accessed with small brushes. Don't forget about the inside of the door and the flexible door lining!
