Important: When Spring Cleaning, Don’t Skip Countertop Food Warmers

Thermodyne

Every year, men and women around the nation participate in a seasonal frenzy known as “spring cleaning.” During this time, they attempt to remedy their cleaning faults and deal with a year's worth of clutter.

When your time comes this spring, don't overlook your countertop food warmers. Although these handy kitchen appliances tend to be very low-maintenance, they do need some attention from time to time.

Cleaning Your Countertop Food Warmer

After ensuring that your food warmer is turned off and unplugged, clean it both inside and outside with a warm, damp cloth. Concentrate especially on hard-to-reach areas such as back interior corners. If your food warmer has a glass panel, polish it with your favorite glass cleaner.

While you're at it, don't forget to wipe down the back of the appliance and check the electrical cord and plug as well. If the cord seems loose or frayed, be sure to have the problem addressed before it leads to serious electrical problems.

Cleaning Underneath Your Countertop Food Warmer

As with most countertop appliances, it's just as important to clean the counter underneath. That's because oils, grit, and crumbs tend to accumulate under there, providing the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria and cockroaches.

Cleaning is a simple task, but an important one. After all, “Failure to Clean” made up 6% of all 166,100 structure fires listed in a recent study.

Don't let yourself become part of that statistic.
